Bill Mytty started Quality Construction Company in 1967 building residential homes in Western Montana, then expanded into commercial and industrial building. From early on, we sought to establish long-term relationships with selected subcontractors, architects and engineers. Our aim has always been to work more like partners than adversaries, freely exchanging advice and information in order to get it right—right from the start.

This approach has led to incredible growth. We’ve built numerous facilities for medical, professional, industrial, governmental, retail and institutional clients, exceeding annual sales volume of more than $20,000,000.

The reason for this growth is, in part, our ability to adapt to clients’ needs—for instance, working nights-only to expand a hospital’s labor and delivery facility, or pouring 2,000 yards of concrete in a single 24-hour period for a recycling plant in order to meet a tight deadline.

This problem-solving, client-centered approach is applied to every project we take on, be it a $200,000 expansion or $8,000,000 events center. Today Quality Construction is one of the most respected and experienced contractors in the region.

Quality Construction’s bidding experience is equally varied. We’ve completed and secured both competitively-bid and negotiated projects for limited partnership and individually funded projects for local, state and federal governmental agencies.

Our decades of experience, vast number of projects, advanced software, extremely knowledgeable staff and long-established relationships with the region’s best suppliers and subcontractors enable us to accurately and quickly estimate any type of project from the sketchiest of building plans.

At Quality, our estimates and bids give our clients a very accurate picture of what their project budget needs to be.

We’ve developed, over time, a very specific approach to value engineering. The goal is to balance the intended use of the facility with the allowable construction budget and future cost impacts such as maintenance considerations, power consumption and expansions.

To do this, our project managers address the proposed budget immediately. At this stage, subcontractors are consulted and designs may be altered, while construction materials and/or methods may be changed to help bring projected costs in line with the budget.

However, during this process we never compromise the integrity of the facility. Our goal is to meet every requirement of the building and its owners—including budget.

Once design and budget issues are finalized, construction begins. It is at this point, more than at any other, that the benefit of hiring a qualified contractor becomes readily apparent.

Orchestrating commercial construction projects is a complex, multi-level task that requires proficiency and experience in design, engineering, material procurement, personnel, scheduling and finances. Most important, it necessitates the ability to coordinate each of these areas with precision and expedience from the beginning of the process to the end.

At Quality, we have the necessary staff and systems to successfully design, build and complete the largest of commercial construction projects. Our project managers have broad experience overseeing projects of all sizes, and we have the capabilities, equipment and financial strength to self-perform most projects we undertake.

While each project varies according to the client’s needs, as a general rule, we adhere to the critical path method (CPM) of scheduling. This method provides strict guidelines for staying on top of each detail during construction. We incorporate the latest construction scheduling software system to help us carefully monitor and control costs. Under the CPM schedule, project teams meet weekly to discuss design changes, subcontractor issues, code compliance, testing procedures, safety issues and each upcoming critical activity.

In short, we work and coordinate as a team. Everyone—subcontractors, engineers, project managers, architects, accountants—communicates regularly and incorporates the latest technology to ensure projects continue on schedule and on budget.

We stress a commitment to safety. Historically, we’ve been a leader in this area throughout various changes to the construction industry. From site planning to project completion, we stress safety every step of the way.

We insist that every subcontractor and employee who works with Quality Construction be safe above all else. Over the years, we’ve developed a strict safety training procedure that includes explaining safety issues, demonstrating safe practices to employees, testing employees regularly and monitoring employees for safety compliance. This procedure has resulted in an exemplary safety record.
